Yan ang Pinay! (or YaP!) is a movement of noble bloggers who hopes to improve the deplorable situation of Filipinas in the Internet. According to the website, when you type "Filipina" on a search engine, more often than not, you'll get a list of websites that have something to do with mail-to-order brides and adult entertainment sites. From Google and Yahoo to MSN and Lycos, even Yehey and Pugad, the listings yielded results that have something to do with dating services. Tsk, tsk. This is so not good especially if you're a Filipina. Yes, there are some who work in said fields but, as a whole, we are so much more than that.

So how can we help? How can you, as a Filipina, help in fighting for this cause? Quite simple really: just blog it! The idea is to blog/post entries about the many attributes of a Filipina. Sooner or later, search engines are bound to pick up these articles, therefore educating the world that we're not all desperate brides. Of course, links to dating services and adult entertainment sites will still be up but at least, we've redirected some of the attention to the other facets of Filipinas.
