loryces online

A happy day today. Have to jot down why before I succumb to temporary insanity again (read: depression -- yeah I call it insanity since there's basically no reason for me to get sad and all, but still I feel depressed most of the time). I bought my first mp3 player today!! Whopeeeeeeee!!! It's nothing like the iPod or the Archos Jukebox but it'll do. It's the RCA Lyra RD1021 Personal Audio Player -- a flash memory mp3 player where I could store mp3-encoded music (and other music file types too) in internal memory, or even external memory card (not included though). It's the cheapest I could find, under $100, but so far so good. I trust RCA naman since our DVD player is of the same brand and I haven't heard any complaints from my siblings or my mom. Either it's a really good brand or they just don't use it.

It took me a long time before deciding on getting this player. I had to ask 4 of my online pals to help me out in deciding what to get. Thanks guys!!! I couldn't have done it without you. Well yeah I could decide on my own but I could have picked an expensive one and I don't need that right now... not yet anyway. Besides I still need to buy a digicam and PDA. Hehehe.

My mp3 player is a beeper-sized one (as one friend pointed it out) and weighs less than a pound. It's perfect for me especially during my walks. I've never liked bringing my CD player or walkman during classes or walks since they're on the bulky/heavy side. Tamad pa naman ako. Hehehe. I know it would have been cool, not to mention practical, to get a CD/mp3/radio player but I'd rather not buy one. Of course I wouldn't want to be stuck with my new mp3 player forever. That's why ngayon pa lang I'm planning on buying iPod. Oh man! That's one cool gadget! Droolicious!! The downside lang of my mp3 player is that I could only play an average of 14 songs. My player has just a 64MB capacity, enough for 10 6MB songs or 20 3MB songs. Well it's not really enough to satisfy any tech-geek but it's ok for me. I love it!!

Whoa! Didn't know Blogger has updated if not for a friend who mentioned it to me in passing. Finally they've revamped it.

*looks around*

The Blogger interface has definitely improved. It's more organized and has more options (I think). I like how they divided the options into categories but I wonder if newbies will be able to get them the first time? Hmmmm... Love the colors too. Kakagana magblog. Hehe.

you're falling back to me
the star that i can't see
but i know you're out there
somewhere out there
you're falling out of reach

Definitely worth the three years wait. I read it over the course of two days -- nonstop -- so right now, my head hurts, my eyes are raw, and my butt's asleep. Got to get some exercise then.

Reading Harry Potter book 5 opened a lot of emotions I bottled up within me for the past 9 months. I cried over little things in the book. I kept on putting myself in Harry's shoes, thus, I was always angry during the time I read HP 5. I snapped at my grandma, I shouted at my cousins, I answered back at my aunt. Hehe. Me bad, I know. I can't help it. Oh well, read HP 5 and you'll get me. Haay the book is so full of angst (as JKR said in an interview) but it sure is the best book in the series so far. The story of Harry Potter is very close to me, more than Lord of the Rings I should say. I just realized it now, or rather when I was waiting in line in the bookstore, eager for part 5. Probably because of the kid in me (LOTR is a bit serious if you haven't noticed hehe). Can't wait for book 6 and 7.

Yikes it's the 20th of June na!! That means one thing -- tomorrow is June 21!!! Hehe. No, really, tomorrow is June 21 -- which means HARRY POTTER BOOK 5 WILL BE RELEASED!! I asked my aunt if we could go to the mall so I could buy the book and she said yes!! Wahey!! I've been waiting for this book for 2 frigging years and no-ONE is absolutely going to stop me. Hehe.

Very tiring but I'm liking it more everyday. Primarily, it's because of the goal at the end of each mile -- Golf Mill Mall and a cold drink. Even though it's supposed to be my fifth day on the program, I had to rest for two days, hence today is considered my 3rd. I can barely walk after my 2nd day. You know why? I didn't start slowly. The prospect of a mall immediately boosted my system so ayun, I walked for 2 miles on my first day. For two nights now, I've been thinking of what to buy at the mall. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go today. My cousins went with me and we were forbidden to go to the mall (lots of stoplights, that's why). Oh well, I still have a long way to go. Lots of opportunities.

A friend of mine is having some financial difficulties. But here I am, discussing with her how best to dispatch, I mean spend my pocket money. Whack me in the head, will you?? Sheesh. So callous of me. Sorry dear.

My cousin attempted suicide today -- love problems. His girlfriend dumped him for another guy. He's in the hospital right now. And we're here, awaiting news of his recovery.

The Eowyn Challenge: The Ultimate Sacrifice to Fandom

I started this project today. It's a Weight Watchers program -- the Walk to Rivendell: Eowyn Challenge -- wherein fans are encouraged to walk a 600 mile-trek from Hobbiton to Rivendell. When I first saw this program in TORn, I wasn't a bit interested. I thought you're supposed to enroll in a gym. But a lot of people or members of this mailing list I belong to are so enthusiastic about the Eowyn Challenge that I finally decided to research about it some more. Needless to say, one of the reasons it got me interested is that it's LOTR-related. A was a bit shocked though that it's 600 miles. Rivendell pa lang yan ha!! What more if it's Gondor or even Mordor?! Dibale, it's ok I guess. This will be my ultimate sacrifice for the name of fandom. Eeeep! Anyway, like I said, I just started today -- a measly 2 miles. 598 miles more to go. Hee hee. My goal right now is to reach the 25-mile mark -- the distance from Hobbiton to Green Hill Country. From the house, it's a mile to Golf Mill and another mile back. (Golf Mill pala is a mall.) Yeah, yeah I know the mall is just a mile from here and still I didn't think of this project before pa. Well, better late than never, I always say. Syempre when I reached the mall, being the gastadora that I am, I window-shopped este shopped na pala mismo. Actually, it's my plan to go to the mall from the very beginning. Two birds in one stone -- losing weight and shopping. Nuninuninuni... Anyway, I went to this bookstore, Waldenbooks, and inquired about the Harry Potter Book 5. I joined their Preferred Reader program, reserved myself a copy of HP 5 and instantly won myself a 40% discount. Woohoo! Plus they have a party on the 21st. Yikes! I also browsed through the bookstore and saw a LOT of Tolkien merchandise -- the Hobbit/LOTR Collector's Edition, the Art of the Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers, the movie guide, hardbound books of Sil and HoME, etc. If not for the thought of my parents and siblings, I would have bought all these merchandise right there and then. I guess they have to wait... I meant the merchandise, not my parents/siblings. Kayo ha.

Thanks to a friend I discovered online radio stations. Well yeah I know what they are and how to operate them but she convinced me to try them. And try them, I did. I miss listening to Pinoy radio stations. Not the corny ones, mind you. I guess it's the influence I'm missing. Pinoys love music and we love to try different genres. But here, all I hear is pop and/or rap and sometimes it just sickens me. I long to hear angsty songs or even hard rock. Why didn't I ever listened to them (online radio stations) before?? Ewan. Anyway here's a cool find. And here's another one. Yikes!! Ganda ng songs... La la la la...

Remember the time when I scoured the web for note-worthy links and such? Well when I saw their lay-outs I got this idea of mixing and matching their styles. Look what happened -- my blog got confused. Ako din naguluhan. Hehe. Anyway I would like to change it again. Hopefully, to something simpler and navigation-able.

Rest I did this past week. I see that now. It's just what I needed. I have been sleeping at 3 or 4 am, everyday for the past month. It's the reason why I feel so drained of energy, the reason why I feel bummed out. This post is proof enough -- me posting it at 2am. Heehee. Oh well, that's me -- stubborn gal.

Happy anniversary to The Philippine Tolkien Society!

Wow we're a year old!!! Not bad. The only sad thing is I'm not in 'Pinas to celebrate with the rest of the gang. And to think, our list owner is going with them. Sayang. Oh how I miss them...

--- start post ---

I'm at the point in my life where nothing could possibly excite me. Not Lord of the Rings. Not the internet or the computer. Not TPTS. Either that or I'm just plain bored. Yeah I know I would someday miss this I-am-a-bum-haha life but suddenly, it sucks. I wonder what would it be like not to turn on the computer -- AT ALL -- not to check my emails or check out my blog or even, moderate the forums. So without further delay, I am logging off ... static ... in a while ... static ... so I can log in again in a few days' time ... static ... I hope you miss me hehe... static ...
