Contrary to popular belief, not much sleeping is done in here. *wink*
If you were a room in a house, what room would you be?

You are the most universal mythical beast ever. Sightings of the unicorn have been reported from all over the world, even in these modern times. Unicorns are pure and incurruptible. In China, unicorns symbolised gentleness, good will, and wisdom. Christianity links the unicorn with Christ. It is said that unicorns would only allow virgin girls to see them, let alone touch them. They were easily lured into fatal ambushes by a virgin with some potchers waiting for the unicorn in nearby bushes. A unicorn's horn was a highly prised possesion, which was reputed to have great healing capabilities. With the touch of its horn, a unicorn could bring back a person who had been dead for several hours. But when disattached from the unicorn's body, the magic was suggnificantly reduced and could only protect against poison. The unicorn had the body of a horse, a unique spirling horn, and a lion's tail. They were pure white in color. Congradulations, you are a rarity amoung mythical beasts. There aren't enough of people like you in the world.

What mythical beast best represents you? Take the quiz!

Had my second celebration of Thanksgiving today. Didn't have fun at all. Slept the whole time we were in my aunt's house. The only time I'm awake was when we were eating. Goes to say I'm not a party person at all. Or probably there's no one I could hang out with, who has the same wavelength as I am.

My mom and aunt asked me if I would want to study nursing here. HELLO! Kaya nga ako nag-PT eh kasi ayoko ng nursing. I hate needles. I hate blood. And I hate doctors. As a PT intern those blasted doctors gave me frustrating experiences. We were trained not only as PTs but as "thinking" PTs -- to evaluate and assess our patients individually with care, NOT by disorder. If, for example, we have 8 patients per day and everyone of them presents with low back pain, we are to consider a lot of different factors -- their lifestyle, mechanism and distribution of pain, history, among others. It goes to say that if there are different ways of how LBP presents, then there are different ways of treating it. Now these dratted doctors, they have these "combo treatments" -- Combo 1: HMP (hot moist pack) + TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation); Combo 2: Lumbar traction + HMP; and Combo 3: Ultrasound + lumbar traction. Hello! Parang di pinag-isipan eh. Yes you may have to use these modalities pero naman, isipin naman kung para saan at kung ano talaga kelangan!

Hey I remember another blooper one of these doctors did. The doctor's from PHC. He prescribed toe wriggling to a patient who's an MTP (metatarsophalangeal) amputee. To those unfamiliar, pinutulan sya ng toes, and imagine, toe wriggling as an exercise!

Tapos ngayon I have to study nursing, when I'm sure gonna be at the beck and call of the doctors. No way man!

This day has been a very busy day for me (yeah right). Ok, ok fine. The busiest I'll ever be.

Anyway I submitted our link to the different societies around the globe. I really didn't understand what was written on their website. I just hope I emailed to the right email address. I'm hoping they'll answer and add our site to their Links section.

We went to Jelly Belly (in Wisconsin) earlier. Nice place they got there. We availed of their free tour and of course free samples. It's interesting to know that 1 jelly bean takes about 7-8 days to make but 4 seconds to eat. Each jelly bean has 4 calories and no fat. Of course, it'll change once you eat 1 PACK. So far, there are about 50 flavors to choose from. Buttered popcorn, caramel corn, strawberry cheesecake, and toasted marshmallow are among their novelty flavors. The simple (but in no way plain) flavors include green apple, lemon lime, juicy pear, orange sherbet, among others. Also Harry Potter's Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans is their featured product. They offered samples too. I tried the vomit-flavored and the grass-flavored jelly beans. You know what don't ever try them if you're not sure that you can stomach them.

*sigh* I'm getting envious with those people who have the FOTR DVD Extended Edtion already. I just have to be content reading their posts in the MLs I'm a member of. Here's what they have to say:

*******
- Bilbo trying to say goodbye to Frodo and chickening out
-The hobbit pub scene
- Sam and Frodo after seeing the elves leaving for the havens: I love Frodo's smile when Sam complains about the tree roots
- The camping scene where Aragorn is singing about Luthien
- Aragorn at his mother's grave
- The scene when the Fellowship leaves Rivendell
- Gimli as they approach the gate of Moria, talking about dwarven doors: "Even their own masters cannot open them if their secret is lost." Legolas: "Why doesn't that surprise me?"
- Almost all the added scenes in Lorien, especially the gift-giving scene
- Dom and Lija with their making fun of Sean A. and their indian accents... you have to see it
- I loved the part with Legolas telling Merry and Pip about the lembas...
- My fave is Frodo asking Gandalf for directions to Mordor - as Ian said on the commentary it brings it to a human level.
- I also like the moment outside Moria where Gandalf and Frodo share a moment. Frodo looks so vulnerable and scared. Good foreshadowing.
- I just love Lothlorien now. All of it and I'm especially entranced with Celeborn. I hope we manage to see more of him, even if its just in flashbacks.
- I loved when Sam was attempting to create a poem for Gandalf - so cute...

*******

Ahhh... this just kills me.

When you get caught in the rain with no where to run
When you're distraught and in pain without anyone
When you keep crying out to be saved
But nobody comes and you feel so far away
That you just can't find your way home
You can get there alone
It's okay, what you say is
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain
And if you keep falling down don't you dare give in
You will arise safe and sound, so keep pressing on steadfastly
And you'll find what you need to prevail
What you say is

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

And when the rain blows, as shadows grow close don't be afraid
There's nothing you can't face
And should they tell you you'll never pull through
Don't hesitate, stand tall and say

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

I can make it through the rain
And I live once again
And I live one more day
And I can make it through the rain
(Yes you can)
You will make it through the rain

Here's a list I got from a blogmate. Nice and true.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it.

---

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something
BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

---

Rule 3: You will not make $40,000 a year right out of
high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

---

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

---

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping---they called it opportunity.

---

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes; learn from them.

---

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying
your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

---

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

---

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time!

---

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

---

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Choice. I love this word and what it means for me. For years I've been begging my mom to give me that right. But now, I would be glad if someone would just hand me something (opportunity, etc) without me having to think twice about it.

So what have I been up to?

Nothing exciting's happening here. Just some web-scapades here and there.

My friends are probably clamoring for more stories from me. But what can I say? I dunno if they're interested in the smallest things I see here. Like it's 200 today. Or that the last leaf of our tree has fallen. Or that it just snowed the other day and it's absolutely the most beautiful thing.

Thinking of things to do just to pass the time is hard. I'm lucky that at least we now have a PC. As of now, I made 10 TPTS buttons, 8 LG buttons, and 7 wallpapers. I also changed my blogskin [which until now is under repair thanks to myself ] and right now, just updated my site. Busy, busy, busy.

Went to the public library a week ago. It was startling to know that they have all the books imaginable (ok, ok I'm exaggerating) from Law to Medicine to Computers to Science Fiction/Fantasy. They also have those computers in which there's a catalog of all their books. Not only do they have 2 or 3 computers but I think they have 20 or so for the whole library. Nice noh! And according to my Tita, you could borrow a lot of books for 3 weeks. So that's what I did, borrowed 3 PT-related books and 2 computer books. Guess which book I finished first? Included in the Computer Books section are some For Dummies books. Galeng noh! At syempre they lend the CD too, together with the book. WOW!

What's my routine?!

Uhmm basically I wake up at 9am, eat bfast, walk around the neighborhood for 1/2 hour, and by 11am I'll be waiting for my errands for the day. I'm not really complaining. In fact, I'm eager to help out. Yeah, yeah you might be surprised but I have to or else my Tita would probably throw me out. Kidding! I don't mean my Tita's like that. She's probably the nicest Tita I ever know. I would do anything for her. In fact, she's the one I obey more than my mom. And that's saying something about how nice she really is.

Anyway by 2:30pm, my Tita would be on her way to work, my lola would be sleeping, my mom's on the other house sorting things out, and I'm all alone. So probably either I'm on the computer surfing the net OR I'm on the computer typing emails/blogs. By 3 or 4 pm, my cousins would arrive from school and that's where my real work begins. I'm supposed to help them with their homework, make sure they play the piano, and make sure they sleep on time. By 10, we're done and that's it. I'm up until 12mn.

Exciting huh?!

So what's your routine?

Didn't do anything much today. Never did since I came here. And I dedicate this song to myself.

-----
I'm standing on the bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now

There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?

It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
Don't know who you are
But I, I'm with you

I'm looking for a place
I'm searching for a face
Is anybody here I know?
Coz nothing's going right
And everything's a mess

And no one likes to be alone

Why is everything so confusing?
Maybe I'm just out of my mind...

Yeah, yeah, yeah

-----

I want something to change in my life, my routine mostly, yet thinking about it, I don't think I'm quite ready for that big leap. Well I think I don't. See I don't even know what I want. So frustrating!

Whew! What a day! Finished changing my blog's skin. Hopefully I won't find any blog whose skin is same as mine ... or else.

Nice skin eh? Autumn-y feel. Funny thing is by next month, it's winter na. Good thing I didn't find any "winter" skin yet. I just hope I wouldn't have the insanity to change it again. But actually, this is not finished yet. Been having some problems with my archives link. And it's really driving me nuts.

Finally picked up my butt and walked around the neighborhood. It was such a good day that I convinced myself to get up. Walked for ~1 hour with Avril Lavigne's album as my "get going" music. Felt good, mm-hmmm. Hope to do it again tomorrow. Thanks to a friend who suggested it.

*sigh* I'm so gloomy nowadays. I don't know why I'm like this. Sometimes it just annoys me why I'm being so difficult. I fail to realize that somehow, in one way or the other, I'm lucky (I think).

Dear God, give me strength to see the beauty of life. *sigh*

Wheeee! Watched Harry Potter today. All I had to do was ASK. Haha. Nasanay kasi ako na pinagbabawalan so I had to resort to different ways. But now, I'll just ask. Of course my tita isn't a movie buff and that presents a big problem since I am. Oh never mind, as long as I'm able to watch the MUST-SEE ones (read: Two Towers, Matrix). On the other hand, I miss watching the trailers, always on the look-out for some good movies that'll come out. I better do a research for all the movies that were released from September to November. That way, I'll just borrow the tapes or the DVDs.

Sometimes I get so weird
I even freak myself out
I laugh myself to sleep
It's my lullaby

Sometimes I drive so fast
Just to feel the danger
I wanna scream
It makes me feel alive

Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody wreak my heart out
And leave me here to bleed

Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything
But ordinary please

To walk within the lines
Would make my life so boring
I want to know that
I have been to the extreme

So knock me off my feet
C'mon now give it to me
Anything to make me
Feel alive

Let down your defenses
Use your common sense
If you look, you will see
That this world is a beatiful,
Lasting, turbulent, succulent,
Opulent, permanent, no way
I wanna taste it
Don't wanna waste it away

-- lyrics from Avril Lavigne's "Anything but Ordinary"

This is really not fair.

When I learned that Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets won't open 'til Friday, I was kinda irritated. But what can I do? So wait, I did. But now, I learned from my cousins that we won't be watching it...ever (their mom, my aunt, said so). It figures. She's the sister of my mom. *sigh*

I just wish this won't happen when Lord of the Rings opens on Dec 18.

Can't wait to get a job. Wait 'til you see what *I* can do, just for being a fan.

Just had my 1st interview. And it definitely was one of those times where I mutter to myself, "This too shall pass."

The day before the interview, I was researching through the Net about how to make a resume (yeah it was short notice) and how to behave during those dratted job interviews. Fortunately, I found some good ones: the Resume Tutor and the Interview Topic Guide. So as usual, I crammed all the info into my thick skull. I stayed up late, to give me enough time to comprehend all that stuff.

Even though I stayed up late, I kept on waking up all through the night. 3:00...4:30...5:00...7:30...until I can't stand it. I just have to get up. I'd probably sleep through the day if I let myself. So at 8:00, I took a bath, ate bfast, and prepared myself. I even snagged some more tips from the net.

Probably the hardest part of this interview for me was the loong drive from our house to the clinic itself. Hah you don't know what's been going on my mind the whole time we were driving. I keep on picturing the possible consequences this interview might bring. It was such an effort to direct my energy on focusing on the present. Wish I was a Jedi.

When the interview started, I think my tongue got tied up in knots. For seconds (which seems like eternity) I really wasn't able to say anything. It was so frustrating to know the answer yet at that moment, I would consider myself aphasic.

But I think the interview went well. I felt good during the interview because at least I get to show off (a lil bit) and "sell" myself to the company. I know that I'm right for the job, I just got to show them that.

Major Blooper: I think I used a Tagalog word during the interview. I hope to God she didn't remember or, for the good of all, notice at all.

Lesson for the day: Just have a good night sleep.

Okay I had enough time to organize my pictures and my stories. So drum roll please. Ah btw, the pictures belong to my mom's classmates. I borrowed them from their website (Hehe! Sneaky!) kaya there's only a handful of them. Anyway this trip was strictly my mother's since she was going to attend her High School Reunion, International Edition, so basically I was just a tag-along. Just a note.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas was our first stop in our 10-day trip to the West Coast. I would say this is may favorite of the three places we went to. Maybe because it reminded me of Manila -- Nightlife!!! Anyway this city has nothing but dry, rocky mountains. There are some plants here and there (and they go by the name of cacti) and that's it. If not for the casinos and the nightlife this city has to offer, I don't think there would be plenty of tourists here.

We arrived at the Jockey Club and I could tell my mom was pretty excited of seeing her classmates. I was amused. I mean, hello, they were classmates in high school pa. I didn't know then that they're really close. Seeing all of them like that, joking and horsing around, I was wishing that somehow ganun din kami ng mga classmates ko, be it high school or college.

that's us -- me, my mom, and my mom's classmates -- with the Paris hotel serving as the background

This picture was taken when we were strolling around the "strip." The hotels here have different attractions to offer the public. For example, the background you see there belongs to the hotel/casino Paris. I really don't know what their attraction was. Basta it looked a lot like Paris because of the style of the buildings. Besides there's an Eiffel Tower restaurant in front of it. The attractions I remember watching were those of:

* Bellagio -- They have a fountain in front of this hotel but I'm not talking about a fountain like the one you see in Rizal Park. I'm talking a BIG one, like...let's see, almost the size of SM Megamall. And every hour or so, they have this spectacular display of lights and sounds, just like the ones in the malls.
* Venetian -- You know the canals in Venice? They have that too, INSIDE the hotel. We also went to Madam Taussad's Wax Musuem here, but of course this is old news compared to the other attractions. Hehe!
* Luxor -- We didn't go inside this hotel but this one, I would say, is my favorite. Whenever we drive through it, my neck kinda hurts since I was busy sizing it up. The hotel is an exact copy of a pyramid and their front attraction, it was the Sphinx. Quite ingenious huh?
* Uhmm those hotels top my list. If I can remember some of them, I'll update my post.

Bellagio

Buena Park, California

My mom's classmate rented a van and the 7 of us drove all the way from Las Vegas to California. The trip took ~8-10 hours I think, and that's inclusive of short stops. We visited a classmate of my mom and you know what, he treated us to an all-expense paid stay at a motel! Imagine there's 7 of us and he paid for 3 rooms for 2 nights. WOW! We're not even his relatives, he was just a classmate, and take note, HIGH SCHOOl classmate! Galeng!

Para daw buo ang word na California!

Anyway the day after, the gang went to Disneyland, compliments of two of my mom's classmates (who are architects of Disneyland). Cool eh!

All in all, I think we went to just 4 rides. Kainis noh! Well what can I do, they were all KJ. I wanted to ride to the roller coaster (I think it was Space Mountain -- According to my cousin, it was a rollercoaster but the amusing thing is you don't see where you're going because you see you're inside the mountain, and it's dark! )

Look at the flowers! They're shaped like Mickey!

BTW the picture above was taken near the entrance of Disneyland. Cute di ba!

Some of the rides we went to were:

* Indiana Jones -- Oh God this was awesome! If I have the time, I'd probably do it again. Problem is, the line's too long. (Hey Ginny, you WOULD like this.)
* Soarin' California -- sort of a 3D show, with the audience 30 ft above the ground so parang we were flying all over California. There were slideshows of Yosemite Rock Formation, Palm Springs, over snowy mountains, fishing areas, etc.
* Pirates of the Caribbean -- I really didn't want to go here since this is like a puppet show. But I guess this was kinda ok since it's amazing how they did it, parang totoo.
* Big Train (or something) -- Ah this I like! Kaya lang because of this intense ride (which is like a kiddie ride to me), ayun nahilo mga kasama ko so we didn't go to any rides any more. Can you believe it?!

So by 5pm, we were done. Sayang we weren't able to go to some of the good rides. Libre na nga eh.

The Disney Castle

Look at the castle! It's beautiful, don't you agree? I love this picture so much.

San Diego, California

I think we went to two attractions here: SeaWorld and Old Town San Diego. No pictures yet since I haven't got a scanner so we'll have to wait.

Anyway we stayed in my Tita's best friend, who is sort of a relative na. She dropped us off in SeaWorld. I think we were able to finish all the shows and attractions there: the pets show (where cats, dogs, and birds, perform different tricks -- each of them has their own show and sometimes working together to perform one complicated trick), the seals and otters show (where the set is somewhat like a Home Improvement theme -- of course, there were tricks galore), the dolphins, and the main attraction -- Shamu.

But for me, the best part, would probably be...when I touched a dolphin. Yep you read it right, nakahawak na ko ng dolphin!!! Feels like a hotdog. I dunno if my mom was able to snap a picture of me together with a dolphin. Sana.

Well I think that sums it up. I'll add some more info once I remember it. Ahhh, the memories.
