Merry Christmas!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

May the warmth and glow of the holiday seasons remain with you throughout the coming year.

And oh here's something I found from Cathy's website. So apt in today's world hehe.

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all . . .

. . . and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2000, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "America" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee.

(By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.)

As she said in her latest post's title, Happy holidays/Season's Greetings/Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Merry Solstice/greeting of your choice! Har har!

No to Rape! (Reposted from Rej)

A lot has been said about how to prevent rape.

Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts. Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to get drunk at all.

Instead of that bullshit, how about:

If a woman is drunk, don't rape her.
If a woman is walking alone at night, don't rape her.
If a women is drugged and unconscious, don't rape her.
If a woman is wearing a short skirt, don't rape her.
If a woman is jogging in a park at 5 am, don't rape her.
If a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you're still hung up on, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in her bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in your bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is doing her laundry, don't rape her.
If a woman is in a coma, don't rape her.
If a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don't rape her.
If a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don't rape her.

If a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don't rape her.
If your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don't rape her.
If your step-daughter is watching tv, don't rape her.
If you break into a house and find a woman there, don't rape her.
If your friend thinks it's okay to rape someone, tell him it's not, and that he's not your friend.

If your "friend" tells you he raped someone, report him to the police.
If your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there's an unconscious woman upstairs and It's your turn, don't rape her, call the police and tell the guy he's a rapist.

Tell your sons, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, sons of friends it's not okay to rape someone.

Don't tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape.
Don't imply that she could have avoided it if she'd only done/not done x.
Don't imply that it's in any way her fault.
Don't let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he "got some" with the drunk girl.
Don't perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over or responsibility for your actions. You can, too, help yourself.

If you agree, repost it. Email it to your friends and family. It's that important.

End of the Road

At last!

*****
(edit)

Sorry for the uhm quick post. I was too exhausted to write a complete entry about the ceremony hence just two words. Anyway last Thursday (Dec 15) was a blast! We had a simple gathering--30 graduates, their families, the instructors, and some volunteers. The ceremony lasted for ~30 minutes, including the speeches, the pinning itself, and the giving of awards. It was completely opposite from when I graduated several years ago from UP (which I think lasted from 8a to 12n, jeez). It really was short and simple, much to my amazement. Sigh I'm going to miss our group. I enjoyed studying in my school and meeting a lot of interesting people. I just hope we'll keep in touch.

Oh I finished second in class. Kind of surprising since I didn't aim for anything (except to finish the damn program hehe). Yay me!

Another accident

I had another accident. Shitshitshit.

---

I really didn't want to talk about the accident. It was traumatic enough to go through one; it was another thing to have it happen again even if you're not in the driver's seat. It was yesterday morning when it happened. My dad was going to drop us off to school. As we made a right turn to Greenwood Avenue, our car skidded and made a 900 turn, crashing into the car behind us. That's the other car in the picture--the driver's door was totally destroyed. He also had a flat tire. Our only damage is a broken front light. Why did we skid, you ask? Well, it snowed heavily the night before. It would have been fine because the streets were cleaned. But the sun chose to appear, melting some of the snow, thereby making it more slippery. Ayoko na grabe. My dad, of course, got the ticket. What's surprising is he wasn't given any options. The police officer told him to go to traffic court next year. What a great way to end the year and start a new one. Shit. I'm never going to drive again. Merry Christmas huh? Oh before I forget, are you familiar with the adage "It comes in threes?" Yeah scares me too.

yikes, not another one. funny thing though that as a blogger, you would still have the presence of mind to snap a quick photo to post in your blog. am glad you're ok though.

Wawa naman you, girl. I'm glad to know you're okay. Any abrasions, lacerations, broken bones, etcetera? I hope not =)

Don't let your fears of getting another accident stop you from driving again though. According to the books, best way to get over a fear is to face them right away. As soon as possible. So, get right back behind the wheel right away and just always always ALWAYS be careful, okay?

Miss you, girl. Take care always!
